What exactly are you doing?

To torque the spacer, stick a large screwdriver in the rotor slot and rest it against the caliper. Also, put some locktite on the nuts cause you do not want them loosening up.....

Never mind, I see it is a solid rotor. What kind of car has solid front rotors that was built in the last 20 years?....

If it makes you feel any better I just make a very tin y mistake that can only be solved with copious applications of time and money but likely means one of my drive belts will eat itself very quickly.

I think that’s the rear.  The Juke has a blobby shape.

Do you have a spring compressor?

I hope you find it! Just be glad it’s not a 10mm. If it is, uh-oh :(

Also, a magnetic dog dish might be useful

Unless the juke has 4 wheel steering, its a front. See the tie rod end?

Sounds like you need the shop pack of 10mms

If you are trying to install springs on a strut, be very careful with the spring compressor. They call them Widow Makers for a reason. If there is a small garage in the neighborhood, i’d take the spring and struts there and let them assemble them.

I used a cheapo compressor about 25 years ago that did not have safety locks. I t was about the scariest thing I ever did working on a car.

now that I zoom the photo I see the CV boot.  the tie rod didn’t stand out since I don’t know what the Juke’s rear suspension is like, and there are independent rear setups where the toe links look like tie rod ends.

My older brother offered to “help” when I was at this point on my WRX probably 15 years ago . I came out to the garage to see him with a few blocks of wood and a tow/ratchet  strap compressing the spring along with a spring compressor that was too small (hence my original troubles) .

“Yo dude! You’re fuckin’ nuts!” I said. He kind of shrugged me off as I cringed and kind of “jumped” back inside.

It didn’t happen right away but that spring he had rigged up went through the wall....like through the drywall, through a 2x4, and through some stucco. It looked like someone shot a watermelon out of a cannon at the wall. Luckily my parents neighbors house sits significantly higher as the spring was embedded into the hill outside.

The guy at pep boys who rented me the spring compressor said. “I bet someone told you this already, but be REALLY careful compressing your springs/using this.” When I came back to pay for the mangled tool he gave me a “what the fuck” look, I just said “my brother”...

If anyone would it’s Nissan. Mainly because they’ve not updated their mechanicals in 20 years

That impending sense of doom when you’re using  a  floor jack to lift your lower a- arm into position, hoping it doesn’t slip.

E specially priceless when jacking the A arm compresses the spring and lifts the car off of the jackstands, all while your hands are in there trying to put the strut shaft through the strut mount.

Probably pretty similar to the bushing shaft bolts on a non- strut setup. I learned exactly why the handle side of a mechanics pry bar is  tapered....to align holes.

I felt very secure doing mine. Almost certainly excessively so. But disassembling the the old stack was the easiest part of the job, and building the new one wasn’t much harder, though the force of loosening the spring compressor bolts kept causing the springs to rotate out of the position I needed them to be in, resulting in more fidd ling with the springs while under compression than I would have liked.
